Deleting your account

This page explains how to delete an account created in an Apis Systems LLC application, what is removed when you do, and what is not.

From inside the app

This is the fastest way, and it needs nothing from us:

• Open Foliata and go to More.
• Open your account at the top of the screen.
• Choose Delete account at the bottom.
• The app first shows exactly what will disappear, then asks you to hold a button to confirm. Letting go cancels it; nothing happens until the hold completes.

By writing to us

If you can no longer sign in, write to [email protected] from the address the account uses and ask for the account to be deleted. We answer within a few working days and delete on receipt; we may ask one question to confirm the account is yours.

What is deleted

• The account itself, and the email address attached to it.
• Your herbarium as stored on our servers: every find, its photographs, dates and any coordinates.
• Watering and care reminders.
• Progress and naturalist levels.
• Any feedback you sent us that is tied to the account.
• The copy on your phone: the herbarium, your scan history, care reminders, and every photograph the app had stored, including scans you never kept. Nothing is left behind for the next person to open the app.

Because the copy on your phone goes too, export anything you want to keep before you start: Account › Export the herbarium.

This happens immediately and cannot be undone. Backups are overwritten on their own schedule and are fully replaced within 30 days.

What stays, and why

• Your subscription. Subscriptions live in the App Store or Google Play, not with us, so deleting an account does not cancel one. On iOS: Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play → Payments and subscriptions.
• Records we are required to keep. Nothing about your plants, but purchase records held by the stores and by our payment processor stay as long as tax law requires.

Deleting data without deleting the account

Individual finds can be removed one at a time in the app: open your herbarium and use the bin on a sheet. To have specific data removed without closing the account, write to [email protected] and say what you would like gone.
